I have also been working on promotional items for my show. Today's accomplishment was the printing of the posters for the sandwich boards and other locations at the Galerie Old Chelsea.
I worked on this for a few more hours today. There are so many little, tiny pieces and I have used up all of the fractured streamer from my stock. Next will be some leaves for the rose and maybe another leaf for the calla lily.

Whew! Guess what - Thumbunny snuck into my garden scene over the weekend. I did not actually have any bronze chinchilla glass in my stock so I pulled a piece out of a garden lantern and turned it around so that panel is now in the back ... I will have to replace it with a plain piece of glass before I take out to the garden this year. And, yes, he will have an eye. I did make some serious progress on my garden scene today. One more big push tomorrow and I could be ready to start foiling.
Oooooo....shiny things! A detour today to a favorite second-hand shop was rewarded with a veritable trove of future treasures to incorporate into my stained glass panels. I put them on the small table next to my chair to take this picture. A few minutes later the sun broke through the clouds and the light was reflected from these pieces onto the ceiling in the living room. I jumped up and tested them and yes, every one of them creates dancing prisms on the wall when the sun shines through them. It is so tempting just to put all of the housework, etc. aside and lock myself into my workshop until each one of these has a new home! I am at the Galerie Old Chelsea all day tomorrow so they will have to wait ....
Rainy days and Mondays ..... a great time to be back in my workshop after a few weeks (maybe two months) distracted by office work! I have only three weeks until my Treasure Hunt show is hung at Galerie Old Chelsea and I am getting excited. There are a lot of bureaucratic tasks still to do but I have a couple of ideas in my head for additional pieces for the show. The one on my table today is going to be a garden scene. At Janet's suggestion, I have added a calla lily (thank you Heather for the photo of the exotic variegated one as an added inspiration) and have cut out a second tulip. The second tulip may end up in the reject pile (to the right, outside the frame) as it is not bright enough and makes for too much pink. The amazing, dynamic glass I wanted for that tulip refused to be cut into a tulip shape and is now very exotic scrap.
I am considering two different shades of blue or an orange. Thoughts? I am also trying to decide whether to include the butterfly (made with re-fired glass globs) or the dragon fly. Any preferences? |
