For those of you in the Alta Vista area over the weekend, there is free parking in the Conference Board of Canada lot, accessible from Valour Drive. I will be on site for the Vernissage on Friday evening, from 1:00 to 5:00 pm on Saturday, and from 2:00 to 5:00 on Sunday. Hope to see you there!
I am just loading up the car to go and set up at Oakpark for their three-day community art show (see details below). At this show, I will unveil the first of my Out of Chaos - Trees Series, featuring heritage glass. The heritage glass in these pieces has been cut from 'kiln surprises' - beautiful pieces of glass or crystal which, for some reason, did not come out of the kiln as expected. In the true intent of my 'Out of Chaos' series, these pieces have been granted another chance to shine and bring joy into someone's life.

The quantity of packing material and glass required for a day at the Wakefield Market was a bit of a challenge, as was the 6;30 am departure time. The closer we got to Wakefield, the foggier it got! Set up went smoothly and the weather cooperated fully - the sun burned through the fog, the layers of clothing came off, and we enjoyed an amazing day! It was great to meet people who recognized my work from Galerie Old Chelsea and to talk to so many folks who enjoyed my work and asked great questions. Meeting the other glass artists was fun, even though there was little time to chat. Looking forward to doing this again next year!
I took this piece of glass to the gallery today to replace the one that sold yesterday from the table at the front entrance to the restaurant. Pure coincidence. ...when Ii placed it on the table, it cast the reflection from the window onto the wall and turned it upside down! If you move the piece one inch closer to or farther from the wall, the effect disappears. Does this make me amazing or just amazed?
