I also found time to create one small piece for the Gallery called Saturday Night. The smoky blue/purple crystal in the centre was recovered from a necklace found at a second-hand shop. The glass surrounding the crystal is called Mardi Gras and fit well into the Saturday Night theme!
I worked with a client recently to translate a very complex image from the internet into a simplified lotus flower for the yoga room in their home. The client chose glass with a blend of greens to create depth and the effect of light.

Thank you to the clients who have purchased six panels in just two weeks! I am enjoying the challenge of creating new and different pieces to keep the windows filled at Galèrie Old Chelsea and at Restaurant il Primo. I actually finished this piece this morning and hung it in the Galèrie this afternoon, along with Portal and City Complexion. This piece is called Defining Success. The large clear piece of clear glass was hand-made at Stained Glass Stuff but did not turn out as expected so was passed to me to give it a new life. A number of the clear textures in the border are no longer available and brought back fond memories of previous projects.
Wow - 'Surprise Party' did not even make to the restaurant! A client asked what I was working on and, when I shared the photo, she had to have it. I still needed another piece for Restaurant il Primo so I went through my stock and found this former ashtray for the centre of this new creation, accented with an elegant rectangular chandelier crystal. This one is called '1990' which was the year I quit smoking. The background glass is called 'croco' because the little circles stay in-tact at the edges of the glass when you cut it and it BITES! Even with extra careful handling, I have one Band-Aid souvenir from yesterday's work!
Wow - July was certainly busy and August will be as well! I finished one piece for my show in 2017 (sorry, no photos). I have also made some progress on the commission but have to wait now for glass to be received at the store. Today I did finish this piece, using a kiln-flattened butter dish, croco glass, and a large crystal. When the sun shines directly on the croco and the crystal, the glass refracts pink and blue light and the crystal fills the room with prisms. It is called 'Surprise Party' and will be heading to il Primo Restaurant on Preston Street, probably on Wednesday.
