Privacy screens created with clear, textured glass take on a personality of their own, depending on light sources and seasons. In the short time that this piece has been installed, my client has shared two additional images with me. The first image shows the glass in the afternoon with a light cloud cover. The second image shows it 'at work', diffusing the bright light from the motion-activated security light next door. The third image shows the waterfall effect created by direct sunlight at the right angle. I can't wait to see images with the spring, summer and fall leaves introducing colour into the view.

Things I learned today. Thick lenses with 'steps' are a challenge to foil. Thick lenses are not necessarily one solid piece of glass - indeed the one I tried to cut had three layers! Also, light filters are made with tempered glass - which also does not like to be cut. A client has asked me to make a piece that is composed of mostly camera lenses. Before I use the lenses and filters she has provided, I want to experiment with the effects. The layout will change as I build this, but this is Plan A....
A Nova Scotia sunset through glass on my last evening in Nova Scotia for this trip. I made this piece a couple of years back for my Mom. It is based on a quilting pattern and bursts into colour for a few moments at sunset. Privacy screens made with clear textured glass take on a character of their own in different lighting conditions.
