It was another busy couple of days in my workshop, creating this addition to my 'Make Mine A Double' series. This one may be called 'A Rising Star' and was created using the star from the bottom of a Caorunn (pronounced ka-roon) small-batch Scottish gin bottle. Happily, this gin is now available at the LCBO.

When I made 'High Tea With The Tutburys' I thought it would be a one-off. Then this jumped onto my table. The flower was originally a small glass bowl and has been flattened in a kiln. The vase is 1/3 of the bottom of a glass tray which really catches the light and sparkles. Both pieces have complicated curves which required a lot of time fitting and grinding. There could be more in this series .... I just need more time in my workshop! These pieces will be available for sale at the Oakpark Community Art Show from 21-23 September.
I am delighted to be participating again in this annual art exhibition! I will, of course, be at the vernissage on Friday evening and will also be on-site on Saturday afternoon from 2:00 to 5:00 pm and on Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. Please come in and say hi, see the great art on display, and meet some of the other artists. I will be featuring a range of small pieces as well as a selection of my 'Out of Chaos' Trees.
This is a fun piece which I finished today as part of the collection that will be shown from September 21-23 at Oakpark's tenth annual art exhibition here in Ottawa. I have used three wine/liqueur glass bases and a small glass tray to create this vase of flowers....but it still needs a name. Any suggestions?
This has been a very busy summer, with a short and restful break in Nova Scotia which included three days at a small chalet on the shores of the Bay of Fundy. The busy-ness has limited the time I could spend in my stained glass workshop. I have finished a number of small pieces as well as one commission. I will post more images and show details in the next two weeks as I prepare for the September 21-23 show at Oakpark.
