I look forward to late December as it offers time not only for reflection but also time to create, uninterrupted by the normal busy-ness of life. 'Friendship' is the second in what I call my 'Out of Chaos' series. For these pieces, I pull out small bins of precious bits of glass left over from previous projects and I force myself to work on a small scale. The blue crystal, as well as the pink crystal for Curtain Call, were recent gifts from a friend who understands my love of treasures that I can integrate into my pieces. Curtain Call and Lighter Than Air were created using Yoghi and Uroboros ends which represent another challenge for me: basically, they are as random in shape as the edges of cookie dough and most are perfect just the way they are - I try to minimize the cutting and shaping to let the glass convey its own message.
